Poker is a card game in which players place bets and hope to form a winning hand. It is usually played between two and seven players. A player wins the pot (all bets placed during that hand) if they have a higher-ranked hand than all other players. Players may also choose to bluff, hoping to induce other players into calling their bets.<\/p>\n
At the beginning of each hand, a forced bet is made by one or more players. The dealer then shuffles a standard 52-card English pack and deals it in rotation to the players, starting with the player on his or her left. The player to the right of the dealer then cuts, or receives a portion of the deck.<\/p>\n
After each deal, a number of betting rounds begin. The cards dealt to each player are either face up or face down depending on the variant of Poker being played. Each round begins with 2 mandatory bets called blinds that are placed into a central pot.<\/p>\n
A player may raise his or her stake at any time, but must equalize the amount of the last raiser. If a player cannot raise his or her stake, he or she must fold.<\/p>\n
Once all the players have folded, the remaining hands are shown. The player with the highest ranked hand wins the pot (all bets placed in that round).
