Poker is a card game where players place bets against one another. The goal is to form a hand of cards with the highest rank and win the pot, which is the sum of all bets placed in a given round of betting. While a lot of Poker is about chance, the game involves significant skill and psychology as well.<\/p>\n
The game begins with each player being dealt 2 hole cards by the dealer. Then a round of betting starts, initiated by 2 mandatory bets called blinds put into the pot by the players to the left of the dealer. Each player then has a choice to call, raise or fold.<\/p>\n
A third card is then dealt face up to the table, called the flop. This is followed by another round of betting, again starting with the player to the left of the dealer. During this round of betting, you can choose to “raise” the bet by placing a higher amount of money into the pot. This will cause other players to either call your raise, or to fold their hands and lose the money they have already bet.<\/p>\n
If you have a strong value hand, you can continue to bet and inflate the size of the pot. Alternatively, if you have a weak hand, you can try to control the pot size by checking often and forcing your opponents to bet more than they otherwise would, thereby making it unprofitable for them to call your raises.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
