The most popular poker variation is Texas Hold’Em, which is played with two cards. You begin by placing an ante, or buy-in bet, before the dealer deals your cards to you. The dealer will then deal you two cards, or “hole cards”, and you must decide whether to make a bet or fold. Depending on the poker variation, you can also check, raise, or fold. This process will continue until you are the last player standing and you have played for the entire game.

After the betting round, you will reveal your cards. Depending on the variant of the game, each player has a chance to win the pot. You can fold your hand or keep it for another round. Once you have folded, you can bet again with the same amount of chips. If your hand has a high ranking, you win the pot. You can only lose when you have two pairs of high cards or less. If your hand is not strong enough to win the pot, you can fold.
