Casino Marketing Tips

Casino

The smell of cigar smoke, the clinking sounds of coins and chips, and the bright lights and flashing signs of excitement fill the air at casinos. While some people visit a casino to win big, most just want to have fun! Whether they are regulars who strut in confidence, or newcomers trying to win back what they lost the last time, all of them are looking for that special thrill.

As a business, casinos succeed by encouraging game players to gamble as much as possible, and then keeping them there. This is accomplished through a variety of methods, but one key way is to offer comps (free goods or services) to those who spend a lot of money. These can include free hotel rooms, meals, and even show tickets or limo service!

Many of these marketing strategies are designed to make customers feel good, and the fact is, that they often do. However, it is important to remember that a casino is not a charity that’s giving away free money. Like any other business, it must operate within its profit margins, and this means that the house will always come out ahead in the long run.

Few movies capture this tension better than Martin Scorsese’s Casino. While the movie does feature scenes of violence and treachery, these are not used for shock value or style; they are used to illustrate the real-life corruption that was rampant in Las Vegas in the 1980s. The performances of Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone are unsurpassed, but Joe Pesci adds another layer to the film with his portrayal of mobster Sam Rothstein.
